Where to Watch
The Lovely Patient revolves around nineteen-year-old Leonard and his mother Catherine, who live in a rundown motel while Leonard dreams of starting a ghost-hunting web series to support his family. A recent job loss puts those ambitions on hold, and he instead becomes a driver for hire — a job that leads him to Frank, a breast cancer patient he quickly forms a bond with. He helps Frank with tasks around the facility where he lives and even drives him to his daughter's wedding, but as revelations about Frank's life surface alongside mounting bills and troubling news about Catherine's health, Leonard is forced to confront what to do in a moment of crisis.
Male breast cancer patients are significantly underrepresented in awareness efforts, and the film has partnered with organizations including Men Against Breast Cancer, Joy to Life, Hats Off for Cancer, the John W. Nick Foundation, the United Breast Cancer Foundation, and His Breast Cancer to help change that. As its tagline puts it: life hits hard, but love hits harder.
