Trailer
Following the LA Riots in the 1990s, a 14-acre urban farm rose from South Central Los Angeles and gave the community a working, thriving patch of common ground. After 15 years of cultivation, the land was slated for demolition to make way for a retail development — and the farmers refused to leave.
Welcome to Eden documents the occupation that followed: fasting declarations, tree sit-ins, and a defiant encampment that drew national attention and support from celebrity activists Daryl Hannah, Willie Nelson, and Joan Baez. Directed by Michael McGreevey, the film is a portrait of a community fighting to hold onto the land it built.
